As I run into friends around town at Starbucks or wherever, I’ve been asked lately “what’s going on with that two-story building near 5 Points?” The first couple of times I wondered what they were talking about, which I now immediately know to ask back, “You mean the former Jeff Price Tennis Ski & Skate?” They respond, “Oh yeah! That’s it.”
I don’t know if this has been reported by a news outlet or anything, and I haven’t called the new owners directly, but the property has been sold to Shandon Baptist Church. Apparently they’re going to use the property to build a space for their Student Center/College Ministry. I think the technical addresses they purchased are 2127 & 2131 Devine Street.
Shandon Baptist is a large church on Forest Drive just beyond Trenholm Plaza and Gregg Park Neighborhood.
Good for the buyers and sellers of this prime Devine Street property. It’s been for sale for a long time.
